But I can't wait, for Saturday Mor-or....or-or-or-OR-ning

Sept 25, 2010

Saturday morning is my morning to get up with Oliver so Bo gets a few extra hours of sleep. Sunday is my day to sleep in, but I usually find the laughter too alluring and get up early any way. I've really got to stop doing that.

Any way.

You know that song, blah blah blah Saturday night, but I can't wait, till Sunday morning, Sunday mor-or...or-or-or-OR-ning. Ok, now that it's in your head (or now that you're shaking your head because you have no idea what I'm talking about), the point is, I sing like that about my Saturday mornings. Because they're fantastic. Seriously.

Unless I'm sick, then not so much.

This week though, not sick, so totally fantastic.

I mean, how can you resist a child like this. If he wasn't mine I would steal him and feed him cookies.

This is Oliver doing something he's not allowed to do, he's playing on the keyboard for the mac mini (the unused, collecting dust, seriously under utilized mac mini. I should really do something about this).

Look at that, I better view. What Mom, I'm not supposed to do this?

But look Mommy, I can do it on one leg! Aren't you PROUD of me.

Ok Mom, I'll leave your keyboard alone. But your mouse, it's mine now.

Oliver, can you please bring that to Mommy?

My boy, he's a sucker for good manners.

Kind of. You know what he's REALLY a sucker for though? Trucks. And we just happen to have a giant picture window in our second story family room that looks out onto an unfortunately busy street in a construction zone. To Oliver, this is like living in the North Pole.

After the first truck of the morning goes by he waits, watching for the rest of the herd.

Sorry, I've watched way to many of those National Geographic shows.

Ok, this is getting embarrassing. Drooling with anticipation, really Oliver?

Alright, he's given up on trucks (construction around us is starting to slow down but I can't find it in my heart to break it to him)

Oliver likes to give me a bit of attitude some times too. He doesn't have to say anything, you can read exactly what he's thinking in his eyes. You may not speak Oliver's eyes though so I'll translate for you: Mom, that's just about enough of the camera today.

Did you know that you can put your soother in your mount and your finger in your nose at the same time? I sure didn't.

Hey Mom...

Do you remember what I said?

No? Here, I'll show you...

Enough with the pictures.

Time for a drink, Oliver's showing off that he can squat and then stand back up. Ok, so maybe he's not showing it off, but this is a fairly new trick and I want to show it off.

Woo hoo! Flawless!

Ok. so he's a little proud of himself too.

Again, how am I supposed to resist this kid.

Uh oh (This is Oliver's uh oh face, he holds onto the "oh" for at least three seconds. I love it.

He's looking a little confused here...

Then I suggested we take a nap, and he looked REALLY confused.

Eventually he went along with it though.

It was a short lived nap though, and because of my trickery (he couldn't resist Baby Beluga while drawing on his forehead, I'm filing that away for future use) he decided to get back at me. Oliver, don't you turn the volume up, OR change the input. He doesn't listen though. In fact, Oliver's so good at doing this that he can actually stare at me while he turns the dial. And I laugh. Every time. Just add it to this list of things I do wrong as a parent. Did you right it Ok?Good, now through the list away because I don't care.

Daddy's up now, so it's time to act all cute and goofy. He misses his Daddy. didn't you know.

What is it about boys? How is nearly being stepped on funny. I'll never understand this sort of thing.

But as long as Oliver looks this happy...

And this content...

Well frankly, I'm ok with it.

Goofing, Lots and Lots of Goofing!

Sept. 23, 2010

My boy, Oliver...I might have mentioned him before a couple of times. You see, he's got this one little problem.

He's a goof.

Not the clumsy kind (though he does get the drunk walks when he's tired), it's the goof on purpose kind. At 15 months he's already got a sense of humour (I fear closer to his Mother's odd-ball stylings then his father's traditional).

Exhibit A - He laughs if I laugh. Hysterically.

On this particular night Bo was working late (London again, I believe, but it was a month ago now and my memory struggles to go back any further then the breakfast I didn't eat but wish I had. Wouldn't waffles have been great today?).

Any way, back on topic. Oliver and I decided to have meatballs for dinner. When his face was adiquatly covered in sauce, and his mouth full of meatball, I decided to do a goose honk of a laugh, as loud as I could, and 6 inches from his face.

My goose honk made Oliver do this.

Then he gave me this look.

Then he started laughing.

It all pretty much went down hill from here. Oliver laughed, which made me laugh, which made Oliver laugh. We laughed until he got the hick-ups, then he glared at me (for giving him the hick-ups), then I grabbed his foot and he laughed again.

Yeah, our house is pretty much full of laughter.

And goose honks.

Leaf's Game!

Sept 21, 2010

Today was just a fantastic day, Oliver's first trip to a Maple Leaf's game (thank you Coke Zero and Toronto Star!). I won tons and tons of tickets, enough to send the following people to a fun, free night out:

Me, Bo and Oliver
Nana and Papa
Mom and Rosie
Tim, Jenny, Jake and his friend Mike (I think)
Jen, Alex and two of their friends
Adam and Meredith
Daniel and his friend
Online strangers (a lady got tickets so her brother could take their sick mom, she loves the leafs!)
Online local strangers (a guy wanted to go with his wife and little girl before the second baby (due Dec.) arrives

When we first got there we met up with Aunt Jenny and Uncle Alex. That Jenny, she's always thinking, she grabbed my camera and took one of (very) few family shots.

And she snagged one of my boy and I too.

Our awesome seats got even awesomer (lots of words weren't words before then ended up in Websters, deal with it). A giant flag went right over the top of us during the anthem. Oliver was absolutely fascinated.

He even got to touch it.

Then it was game time. We were lucky for a bit in the beginning because our neighbours were late so Oliver had run of part of the isle. Really we were lucky all night, because when everyone did show up they were FANTASTIC! Everyone around us played with Oliver, kept him laughing, and didn't even get upset when he hit them with his giant noise maker.Who, my kid? Never would I let him swing that around on his own, lol.

Case in point - here he is playing with the nice lady behind us (one of his girlfriends for the night)

Seeing if the Leaf's play any better from a different angle (they were not at their finest yet)

Standing on Daddy for a better view of the fights. Yeah, he's all boy.

Lucky me, I got some cuddle time.

Apparently "cuddle time" was the wrong phase, he's got girlfriends for the night remember.

I ALWAYS do this. We're at a sports game, 15? 16? rows up from the ice, and I watch the game on the jumbotron. I'm such a moron.

See, we had great seats. Smack.

Goofing with Daddy

Oliver was still getting his molars in here, and Daddy had leather ties on his sweater, there was just no stopping this.

Looks like Oliver watches the jumbotron too.

Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!

Sorry, I've got to run home now and throw my arms around my boys. This is too much.

Now, his head MAY be in the 90th percentile, but he just doesn't quite fit into Daddy's hats yet.

Again, I'm melting. My heart that is.

Hi Sweetheart. Mommy's almost done shoving a camera in your face. Tonight.

We're doing the wave. Oliver LOVED doing the way, and I got to work out my biceps. Win-win in my books.

Well who's this? Uncle Adam and Meredith. Oliver would be completely confused at seeing so many familiar people in such a strange new place, except he's the most laid back kid ever.

Best seat in the house right there.

The game's finally over and it's time for the looooong drive home (especially on a work night, blah). My two sleepy, sleepy boys.
